Daniel Radcliffe and Kate Mulgrew unite for “Equus”

Stars of the screen Kate Mulgrew and the “Harry potter” fame Daniel Radcliffe are joining together for Peter Shaffer’s Equus. This play has its previews scheduled from September 5th and will be officially opened at the Boardhurst Theatre on September 25th. Mulgrew and Radcliffe will be joined by Richard Griffiths, another Harry Potter actor. The play is in controversy as the main character Alan Strang played by Radcliffe appears nude in the drama. Thea Sharrock is the director of Equus and this is her debut in Broadway. Thea has helped Radcliffe shed of his inhibitions and emerge as a brilliant stage artist. The Broadway fans are eagerly waiting for the play to come to their town and will surely booking tickets to watch this play.

“Stitching” hits Broadway during Independence Day weekend

The limited US premiere of Scottish play writer Anthony Neilson’s play “Stitching” will be performing some off -Broadway shows this Independence Day weekend at the wild Project from June 30th to July 5th. There will be no performances on July 3rd and 4th and this complicated and interweaved play is sure to enthrall the theater lovers. This play talks about the incidence that happen in the love life between Stu and Abby and the characters are beautifully portrayed by Gian Murray Gianino and Israeli actress Meital Dohan respectively. Abby and Stu are sure to linger in the minds of Broadway lovers for a long time to come. Tickets to this limited edition of special shows are currently on sale. 

A Catered Affair announces last show

“A Catered Affair which now playing at the Walter Kerr Theatre announced the last show at Broadway on July 27. This Harvey Fierstein and John Bucchino play has already done 27 previews and more than 116 regular performances and has won the hearts of viewers due to its freshness and its influence on the emotions. This show has won the best musical award for 2008 from the Drama League and it has helped to create an increase in the ticket sales for the show. The ticket rates for the remaining shows of the Catered Affair are fixed at $ 29.50 – $ 119.50, and a change in the schedule will come to effect from July 3.

“Title of Show” heading to Broadway

Title of Show” is a musical play that is to hit the Broadway theaters with its preview shows from July 5 at Lyceum Theater. The musical play will go on air at the Broadway come July 17 and the tickets to the show will be on offer from June 18. Tipped to be a musical hit by the various reviews that this new play has garnered, Broadway fans are waiting with full enthusiasm for the shows to open. The play is about two friends named Hunter and Jeff who want to write an original music play that features them and their girl friends. It talks about the hardships they face in their journey of making this play a musical Broadway hit.

The Broadway in Chicago Concert in the Park conducted as part of the Taste of Chicago festival, scheduled for 30 June, will feature some of the popular shows from Broadway. The venue for the concert is the Petrillo Music Shell in Grant Park. This event is co-hosted by Janet Davies of ABC-7 and Gene Weygand of the Wicked. The concert will have performances by the casts of Jersey Boys, Grease, Wicked, Shout, Dirty dancing, A Chorus Line, Legally Blonde and many more.  The tickets for these Broadway productions will be available at the Chicago Box offices. The celebrated shows of the Broadway and the pleasing venue will make this concert memorable for any visitor.

The Fantasticks returns to Broadway

The Fantasticks will be returning to the Broadway’s Snapple Theater Center on June 16th and this musical romantic play has been running for a record breaking 17,000 and odd shows all over the world. The music for this play will be by Harvey Schmidt and Nick Spangler and Eric Piccininni will be playing the lead lover roles. The Fantasticks will be directed by none other than acclaimed director Jones and Broadway fans have already started booking their tickets which are very nominally priced from $51 to $76.  The Fantasticks romantic play has received very good reviews from Broadway critics as well as fans.

The stage version of “Grease”

The revival of “Grease” is running at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in New York. The stage version of this famous movie is directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall and the lead roles are handled by Max Crumm and Laura Osnes who were selected by television audiences to play the role. The play has retained some popular songs from the movie which has made the play more appealing to many Broadway viewers. Max Crumm has made the role of Danny very charming and one cannot think of any other artist in the role of Danny. Most of the shows of “Grease” are fully packed and hence it is wise to get the tickets earlier.

Les Liaisons Dangereuses continues its success at Broadway

Les Liaisons Dangereuses  is a thrilling play about seduction and revenge written by Christopher Hampton the Academy and Tony Award Winner and is directed by Rufus Norris. The show is presently running at the American Airlines theatre and the leading roles in the play are by Laura Linney and Ben Daniels. The play has won several awards including the best scenic design from the Drama Desk and  for outstanding costume designing from the Outer Critics Circle. The ticket price ranges from $56.25 to $101.25 and the running time is about 2 hours and 45minutes. This play, which is a must see, as per the  reviewes,  is scheduled only till July 6 2008.
