Get lost in “South Pacific”

 The Broadway musical hit “South Pacific” has been capturing audiences for years and is often mentioned as one of the best Broadway musicals of all time.  This performance has won a number of Tony Awards and is something any theater fan must see.  South Pacific is currently playing at the Lincoln Center - Vivian Beaumont in New York City.  It runs almost daily from now until March 29th, so fans should check their schedules to keep up on the dates they want to catch this great show.  You will not be disappointed as this show features not only great music, but the costumes and scenery really bring it to life and make it an unforgettable experience.  Tickets have not been extremely difficult to find, but it almost makes sense nowaways to go through the secondary market. We have seen theater fans relate to this option not only to get tickets to sold out shows, but because of the freedom you have to choose the exact seats you want to sit in.  Whatever way you find your tickets, one thing is for sure, the show you will definitely want to get lost in is South Pacific on Broadway.

A Tale of Two Cities comes to Broadway

The new Broadway musical “A Tale Of two Cities” is all set to make its presence felt at the Broadway on the 19th of August. This musical epic is an adaptation from the novel of the same name by the famous writer Charles Dickens. The musical play is set in the backdrop of the French Revolution and talks about vengeance, love, hatred and injustice. The show is directed by the famed director Warren Carlyle and has music and lyrics penned by Jill Santoriello. The tickets to the Broadway shows are currently on sale now and the popularity of the novel, there is sure to be a demand for the play as well.

Now or Later to Premier in September

The world premiere of Christopher Shinn’s US election drama Now or Later runs from 9 September to 18 October 2008 at the Royal Court Jerwood Theatre Downstairs. It is directed by the artistic director Dominic Cooke. Matthew Marsh will reunite with Eddie Redmayne will star in this show. Marsh and Redmayne co-starred, along with Jonathan Pryce, in the 2004 UK premiere of Edward Albee’s controversial play involving bestiality, The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?, at the Almeida Theatre and in the West End, for which Redmayne scooped Newcomer prizes at both the Evening Standard and Critics’ Circle Awards. It will be interesting to see how the pair performs together again. The tickets are already up for sale for this event.

Sweeney Todd Makes Debut at Music Circus

The Musical “Sweeny Todd” would soon make its Music Circus premiere from July 22 – 27. It would feature two Tony Award nominees Mark Jacoby in the title role and Mrs. Lovett played by Gordon Murray. California Musical Theatre which entertains almost 300,000 patrons every year was erected in 1951 under an open-air, circus-style big top and is the largest non profit musical theatre in California. This event is raking big in terms of ticket sales.

‘Stitching’ to Continue Run Through August 2nd

By overwhelming demand, broadway production ‘Stitching‘ by Anthony Neilson and directed by Timothy Haskell has extended its premier run thorugh to August 2nd. Sitching is about a couple so madly in love that they drive each other crazy. It chronicles the ways they then use to reconnect. It stars Meital Dohan who we know from Showtime’s Weeds. Fans love this production, and are already buying their tickets for this occasion.

Spamalot dies July 13th in Las Vegas

The Las Vegas production of Monty Python’s Spamalot will close the curtains one last time on July 13th 2008.  The show has been going on at the Wynn hotel in Las Vegas.  It began running on March 31st 2007, and will come up just below 510 shows when it performs for its final show.  The play comes from the the movie the Monty Python and the Holy Grail which is a spook of King Arthur and his quest for none other than the Holy Grail.  The Las Vegas production features John O’Hurley who is known for his role in Seinfeld as the whacky boss “Mr. Peterman.” It will continue its national tour in other cities which theater fans can check out schedules on the web.

Previews of “Title of Show” from July 5th

Title of Show, which is a musical comedy directed by Michael Berresse will start the previews at Broadway from July 5th. The show will officially open from 17th July at the Lyceum Theatre. The cast of this musical includes Jeff Bowen, Susan Blackwell, Hunter Bell, and Heidi Bickerstaff. The story is by Hunter Bell and it is about the hurdles faced by two novice play writers from the conception to the staging of the show.  The play has able to get good reviews from critics as the comedy of this play is delectable. The comedy loving theatre fans will definitely flock to the venue for the tickets.
